The Music Teacher’s National Association is a professional organization for private music teachers of all instruments across the United States. This organization assists in the growth and development of instructors of music while promoting an awareness of the importance of music education. To this end, MTNA is responsible for fostering performance excellence through student competitions, hosting professional conferences at the national and state levels for the continuing education of music teachers, publishing the American Music Teacher journal, and providing a wealth of resources and support for their members.
The University of Oklahoma collegiate chapter has a long-standing tradition of scholarship and community service. Our members are dedicated to studying and excelling in both their own performances and in their teaching. We organize community concerts and local competitions, present research and teaching ideas at conferences, and compete on our own instruments. The majority of our chapter are graduate students from across the nation and the world, each contributing their own experiences and culture.
